Queenslanders Steve Finitsis and Peta Hughes hardly had time to celebrate after posting victories at the North Coast Open in Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

Both players flew out to Malaysia shortly afterwards.

Finitsis beat Matt Karwalski (NSW) 11-10 (2-0), 11-10 (3-1), 8-11, 11-5 while Hughes fought back to beat AIS training partner Donna Urquhart 9-5, 5-9, 6-9, 9-5, 9-4.

Both players will now compete in the NSC Star event in Kuala Lumpur from 7-10 September.

Finitsis will then return to Brisbane to lead the mighty Queensland Stingrays in their defence of the National Team Championship title at Wavell on 14-16 September

Hughes on the other hand will join fellow Queenslander Lisa Camilleri in Malaysia before flying to Hong Kong for the Crocodile Challenge Cup from 13-16 September.
