Hughes reaches career high

Rockhampton’s Peta Hughes jumped five places to a career-high 40th in the latest rankings issued by the Women’s International Squash Players’ Association.

Hughes, who was recently named Squash Australia’s junior athlete of the year, was rewarded for some good performances in major tournaments in the US and Malaysia.

Her fellow Australian Institute of Sport athlete, Donna Urquhart of New South Wales, also reached a career high in April, rising to number 48 in the world.

There was no change at the top as Malaysia’s Nicol David held her number one ranking ahead of Natalie and Rachael Grinham.
